Cottage is the middle of three typically Cornish stone and slate
buildings with an unusual history. Together they formed the counting
house for Wheal Fortune silver mine, the (now derelict) shaft of which
is in the grounds of the adjacent cottage where the owners live.
Situated in the ancient village of Harrowbarrow in the Tamar Valley
(recently designated a World Heritage Site and also an Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty), the cottage is ideally placed for
exploring the many interesting aspects of the river and its surrounding
area: the famous National Trust property of Cotehele is just 3 miles
away; Endsleigh Gardens and Morwellham Quay, near Tavistock, are also
just a few miles away. Dartmoor, and the fine beaches of both North and
South East Cornwall, are all within an easy drive.
The property has an appropriately `cottagey` feel and a door from
the sitting room gives access to a private patio area and a very
attractive south - facing garden with views out to the surrounding
countryside. There are especially fine southerly views from upstairs.
