Cornwall among 3 best European holidaysPosted on 17th June 2014
According to a study by Lonely Planet the South West is one of the top-ten must-see places to visit in Europe.
The research said that the Westcountry had moorlands, coastline and a variety of sandy beaches that matched other popular holiday destinations from across the globe.
This is a massive boost to the Westcountry and Cornwall, especially as it comes just as the summer holiday season begins, which is expected to see thousands of people stay in hotels and pretty holiday cottages to rent in Cornwall.
The list by the Lonely Planet’s travel experts said that Greece claimed the number one spot with Ljubljana in Slovenia in second, followed by the South West of England.
Italy, Viking Denmark, Seville, the Outer Hebrides, Plzen, Stavanger in Norway and Toulouse also featured high up in the list.
When describing the South West in the report it says, “Imagine yourself motoring through the romantic English countryside, stopping in charming villages, gawping at castles, and staying in the quaintest guesthouses and B&Bs this side of Downton Abbey.”
