At
the top of the hill in East Looe and part of a well designed quiet,
residential close, Minack is an attractive single-storey building
recently refurbished to a high standard and in a perfect location for
easy access (approx. 5 - 10 minutes walk down hill) to several beaches
and just a few minutes' walk from local shops and from a stretch of
unspoilt headland, affording fine views of Looe Island and the whole of
Looe Bay. Looe itself is a bustling fishing port, well known for its
fish restaurants and with a whole calendar of events and activities on
offer during the year. These include deep sea fishing trips, boat trips
up the Looe Valley, to Looe Island or to Fowey further along the coast.
Alternatively you can try your hand at water skiing or parascending
from Looe Beach. Visitor attractions in this part of Cornwall are
abundant - the Monkey Sanctuary at Looe Bay, National Trust properties
at Cotehele, Saltram and Llanhydrock, the Eden Project, approx. 30
minutes' drive and the historic city of Plymouth, 12 miles away.
Minack is bright and comfortable and is furnished in an appropriately
contemporary style. There is a private, sunny garden at the back of the
house, and from the front there are long views over distant farmland.
The overall effect is very welcoming and affords a pleasant haven to
return to each day.
