Polmear is quietly situated in a typical St Ives street of
terraced, stone cottages, away from traffic yet within a few
minutes' walk of Porthmeor Beach (good for surfing when the tide is
right), the smaller Porthgwidden bay and beach and Bambaluz beach
(closest of all at the end of the road). Owned by one family through
four generations, Polmear has been completely renovated and
redecorated by its new owners, providing spacious family
accommodation with bright, colour washed walls and some of the
artist owner's original paintings. St Ives has achieved a
national reputation in recent years as a cultural and artistic
centre, boasting the new Tate Gallery, Barbara Hepworth's house and
garden, and many high quality galleries and studios. Visitors can
surf, swim, sail and fish, and/or indulge their taste for art to
their heart's content - and then celebrate with a meal at one of the
international standard restaurants in the evening.
The surrounding area too offers much to explore - the Land's End
and Lizard Peninsulas, St Michael's Mount (NT), the Eden Project and
the Helford River are all within easy driving
distance. |
